i have 6 LiON 18650s that i charged to 4.2v this spring and checked they earlier this week and they are all still at 4.1-4.08v. also, LiON doenst self discharge as much as you think. ![]() And I keep a 123A disposable Lithium on my keychain as a backup. Sometimes in an EDC light, like my little Fenix P1D-CE, where the LED driver circuit "knows" it's a 4.2V rechargeable LiON in there, and just cuts out all the lower light levels so the downshift doesn't create too much heat from the resistors. I use them, but mainly for toys like non-firearm lasers I mess around with. Better be damned sure the electronics of whatever it is can handle the extra 1.2V per cell (if it's in series). And if it's a three-cell light, that's like a whole fourth battery in there. So if it's a two-cell light, that's 2.4 extra Volts. the 2500 or so a disposable 123A Lithium has, the self-discharge rate for LiON is pretty lousy, and worse, a charged LiON 123A has a voltage of 4.2V, not 3V like a disposable Lithium primary 123A. In a high-brightness flashlight where the run-time with conventional 123's is just an hour or so to begin with, that drastic reduction in run-time can be a deal-breaker.īesides the lousy 800mAh (more like 700, probably) capacity, vs. The biggest problem with rechargeable 123's is that they only have about half the capacity of their non-rechargeable counterparts. Anyone know a place that sells CR123 Lithiums for the same (or less) than Surefire but doesn't charge shipping? Buy Surefire Batteries Cr123a, Cr123a Battery,cr123a Battery Amazon,cr123a Battery Home Depot, battery Cr123a Near Me,streamlight Cr123a Battery, streamlight. I'd probably order two boxes of the Surefire batteries (two dozen) which would cut the cost down to $2.17/battery.Īre the energizer batteries better? Any reason they are so much more expensive? Are the Surefire CR123s batteries good? Paying shipping fees (especially a $7 fee) sucks. ![]() Even with the $7 shipping cost that comes out to $2.46/battery which is still a whole lot cheaper than paying $5/battery. I haven't purchased any batteries in a while, but they were $10 for two Energizer CR123 Lithiums!!! WTF!!! When did CR123s become so darn expensive? I had bookmarked the Surefire CR123 URL a while ago and went to check on their price and it is $22.50 for a dozen. My Fennix flashlight needed new batteries but my stash was depleted so I headed down to Wal-Mart to pick up a dozen CR123s and restock the supply. I try and make sure all of my battery operated electronics (optics, flashlights, etc.) run off the same battery type, if possible.
